A solid-state, plastic-free shampoo – our first addition to our water range that cleans and conditions in a healthy, natural way, leaving hair super smooth and shiny.
Our shampoo bar is pH-balanced, soap-free, and sulphate-free.
One bar replaces at least approx. two 250ml bottles of liquid shampoo and packed full of nourishing ingredients for the hair and scalp.
It won't leave behind any residue (no transition period needed) due to the mild and gentle naturally-derived ingredients that clean effectively without stripping your hair.
What is in it?
Aloe vera – renowned for reducing itch and dandruff while promoting hair growth. Highly nourishing, leaving hair smooth and shiny. Aloe vera is a protein compound similar to keratin which helps to rejuvenate and prevent further hair breakage.
Activated charcoal – this gives our shampoo its infamous colouring and helps to clean hair without stripping oils. Blondes, never fear; this shampoo is safe for you to use, too; it can also help tone down any brassiness, just as a purple shampoo would!
Nothing in our range is complete without some essential oils to work their magic, selected for their scalp-loving properties.
Have you tried a plethora of solid shampoos before?
Us too. This two-year development journey stemmed from personally wanting a better haircare option and experiencing sensitivity to most hair products. After a decade of searching, I finally decided to bite the bullet and create something that didn't irritate my scalp. Have you ever tried soap bars on .your hair? If so, you've probably found, like me, that it just doesn't work, no matter how many different ones you try. In short, cold-process soap bars are made with lye (the chemical that turns oils and butter into soap), and while these are great for the body, they're not going to wash your hair. Instead, you'll be left with dry, brittle hair that's impossible to manage, and probably an itchy scalp to boot. Why is this? Soap, is not PH-balanced, in fact it's on the alkaline side (usually sitting around 8-10), while our hair is acidic and therefore needs acidic ingredients (between 4-6) to stay healthy and strong.
Enter our correctly formulated shampoo bar. Not only will it clean your hair better than lye-based soaps can, but it can also help prevent further scalp irritation.
How is this different from other soap-free alternatives?
We have left the sulphates at home, which can trigger scalp irritation. And any other nasty ingredients are known for that. You know us - as close to nature as our parameters allow, is the name of our brand! Our formula is mild and gentle while still achieving the heaving lifting of cleaning your hair.
Will it suit my hair type?
I had an extensive spreadsheet with various testers' scalp and hair types recorded during the development process. After copious permutations, this formula for Midnight Star came out on top for ALL testers regardless of hair type, much to my surprise, eliminating the need for many options to offer our customers. 50g size packaged in a cardboard box, with a compostable label.
USAGE
Wet hair and scalp thoroughly. Gently glide the bar on hair from the roots to the ends and repeat to work up a lather. Rinse hair thoroughly. Follow up with our conditioner for soft, luscious hair.
